Carlos Ruiz

Carlos Ruiz is a man of Puerto Rican descent that likes to help kids get good grades and also helps them to get college scholarships. The organization he works for is B.U.I.L.D and he works with students at both KP and Ames.

Carlos said that he thinks that education is really important. He said that, “it is important to come to school everyday.” He said that when you go to school that you learn new things.

Carlos works with B.U.I.L.D.  At Ames he works with kids that have bad behavior, attendance, and gang related problems. At KP he works and helps kids to get scholarships for anything.

He has problems with social media platforms like Snapchat and Facebook. He said that when he was in high school, he didn’t have Snapchat or any other social media related app. He said that, “this is a new challenge now,“ and he thinks that because it distracts kids and students when they should be doing their work in school.

Carlos believes a  hero is someone who’s always there to help out others.. He said, “that a hero and a role model are pretty much the same” and that he appreciates those in his life who fill that role.
