Jose Rodriguez
Jose Rodriguez, was an inspiration in this community he gave people hope and happiness. He has a very small family, its him, his wife, and his son. When he was growing up some of the personal challenges that he faced was growing up with a single mom and no dad. His mom worked so hard for him to succeed in life. The advice he gives us is “to don't be afraid of being different”.
When Jose was in high school it was different for him because he was in an all boys school. It was different because nobody distracted him, and he didn't have to worry about how he looked during school. If he was in charge of CPS he would change the way students are taught. He wants the work that kids do to be creative, he says “you learn by doing not by watching”. It means a lot to him cause he's involved with CPS.
Jose works with many kids so that they can get back on the right track. What he loves most about his job is speaking to young people. what motivates him is his son because he wants his son to know that there is good in this world. He has traveled to many places like Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Europe. He looks up to those kids like they are his own because he doesn't want to see them get hurt in this world.
He thinks one kid can make a difference because it can make one kid change this world forever. He would change the way people live for his son because he doesn't want his son to live in a horrible world like we live in today. He thinks racism still exist in our society today because he has experienced racism, he thinks a lot of stuff takes place behind closed doors. The roots of youth violence for him is because of society, people struggle financially with poverty. which that leads to people doing and selling drugs in order to survive.
He says that the traits of a hero is, a hero cannot be selfish, they have to be willing to fail because you cannot always succeed. They have to be brave, and they have to be focused. These are all the reasons why i think Jose Rodriguez is an inspiration in my life and other peoples also. Taking the time to listen to what he had to say was worth it.
