Christian Diaz
Christian went to Schurz High School as a teenager, then dropped out and went to Antonia Pantoja, which is an alternative school, now he’s helping kids to stay in school and not drop out like he did.
He leads students to
succeed by getting them to help others on issues like immigrants’ rights to
stay together as a family. He believes that young adults need a good education;
we need less students dropping out of school. Kids need to stop making bad choices
that affect their future and possibly ending up in jail. Students should get
more involved in programs; we should all have equal/same opportunities.
Christian has worked 3
years for LSNA, and he went to North Carolina to help out others with issues of
education. He is part of the immigration committee, the Dream Act which was
called the dream fund. He wanted to help students with their education, become
new Americans, and teach them about democracy and voter registration.
Everybody’s voice matters as does everybody working together. Christian
feels good about helping others and he makes a difference by working with his
community. Christian believes that there is always going to be 2 sides;
the wealthy and the poor/working class, some who struggle and some who don’t.
Some people work to support their families also being able to connect with a
student’s right now he works on being a community organizer.
Many students are
dropping out and they are getting into trouble, and ending up in prison.
Christian believes that it affects our community because schools exist
for students to succeed and to do well and go to college, not prepare you to get
out of school and go to jail. “Kids drop out for dumb reasons and its unfair
and it is an injustice too many of our are getting arrested”
Taking what we think
into interest and students will get more involved if they see what they wanted
to see and taking it to the board of education, not that there is some schools
that get more resources than others that is unfair, unequal, to keep kids in
school and out of the prison pipe line. He’s not here for a paycheck. He does
it because he cares and he has spent 3 years of his life helping others and
that makes him a hero. “Keep a limit don’t cross the line”
Hello. My name is MaryCruz
Ocampo and I’m going to talk about how Christian has inspired me. This has inspired
me to keep coming to school. Now that I see many kids drop out, I think education
is the only thing that no one can take away from you. If you fall, you get up,
but education is something big in your life. It’s something that not everyone
has and there’s kids that wish to have, but they don’t have the opportunity and
I would like to help like Christian. It makes me want to not make mistakes, but
everyone does, which we have to “not cross the line to not go to the prison
pipeline.” In my opinion, it is good to know someone admires you and would like
to be like you. We don’t have to be perfect, but we don’t loose anything by trying.
