Maura Nugent
Maura is an awesome person she is smart and caring and lives to make the world a better place, while interviewing her she made me think of the world and myself different, she taught at Kelvyn Park for six and a half years as an english teacher and loves working in cps and or neighborhood schools. she has two kids wants her kids to grow up happy and successful she wants to help her kids be a good part in this world and grow to help make the world a better place.
Maura says she has a love hate relationship with cps because she loves cps to work there to have her kids go to school there but then again she thinks that cps could be better in many way,in 10 years she sees herself working in Chicago and teaching at a cps neighborhood high school, just working hard as a teacher and doing things to better the community. She also wants to begin to teach again she says her goal in teaching life is to be the best that she can be .Her dreams when she was younger was to grow up and become a writer and so she became an English Teacher at some point she wanted to be a Marine Biologist but then it faded.
Maura grew up in evanston and by living there it changed her point of view about things and persuaded her to learn about social justice and begin a career in the field. Maura questioned her school because of the segregation and just how it was so because of this became a teacher to make a difference. Maura thinks everything she has done affected her in every way she doesn’t have regrets because she thinks what happens is in the past so she thinks just move on and learn from her mistakes. ’’Life can always change so if you go down the wrong track don’t feel that you’ve gone down that wrong path forever’’.
Maura told us ‘’that we have the most potential and power to make the world better and to make our community a better place and to make the world more fare so to do what u can to make a difference and dont doubt that we have potential to do great, seriously.’’The work that she has done has been because she believed that young people are the future, and can make a difference in some way.
I think that maura thinks that we are the heros of now and the future. I also think that the teachers are our future because they push us to do our work and to do better so we can be better and we can be a hero to someone.
